    Electronics Service & Training Centre (ESTC) has been set up at Ram Nagar (U.P.) with UNDP assistance as a Government of India Society under the Societies Registration Act 1860 in April, 1986 in the State of Uttar Pradesh (now Uttranchal) The main objective of setting of this project is to develop human resources to meet the essential requirements for tranfer of technology in assembly and manufacturing of electronic items and parts to promote growth of electronics industry in the small scale sector. The project was initially approved by Government of India in September, 1985 and The Centre became operational in April, 1989. The project was completed in March, 1992 at the under-mentioned input costs:-

    i) UNDP US $ 8,37,291

    ii) Govt. of India Rs.294 lakhs

    iii) Govt. of U.P. Land & Infrastructure facilities

    Project Objectives

    Following are the main objectives of the Centre :

    1. Develop skilled/semi-skilled manpower in electronic, Information Technology (IT) ; and related electrical & mechanical fields.
    2. Provide Extension/Common technical & testing Services, Quality Control and Reliability Services.
    3. To develop entrepreneurs through its Franchise scheme for conducting training programme on computer software/hardware and electronic repair and to provide Technical Services also.
    4. To render technical consultancy and guidance to entrepreneurs in product development etc
    5. Develop Library-cum-documentation Centre for providing necessary information to the entrepreneurs/industry.

    Project Activities

    Since its inception, Centre has made steady progress in achieving its objectives. Following activities have been launched in ESTC to achieve the objectives of the Project.

    TRAINING:

    Training Programmes of the Centre:

    • Updating knowledge and skills of Engineers, Supervisors, Technicians, Technical Trainers and Managers in the field of Electronics and IT.
    • Designing and conducting self employment oriented courses including product oriented EDPs.
    • Designing and conducting tailor-made training programme for specific needs of Industry/Institution
    • Developing trained manpower in specialised areas such as PCB design & manufacturing, Mechanical Tool Room operations including CNC machine operations, Electronics repair & assembly and Computer applications etc.

    Major facilities in the Cenrte:

    The facilities in the areas of PCB Design, manufacturing; PCB Design lab,, Telecommunication Cell, Mechanical tool room, Test & Calibration lab, Computer Cell, Electronics & Microprocessor Cell, wound component and Audio visual cell TV/VCR/Tape Recorder repair & maintenance, Computer repair and maintenance have been created in the Centre with an investment of more than Rs. 5 crores for training and providing technical common facilities to the industry/entrepreneurs in the region.

    Technical Services or Extension/Common Services:

    Technical Services and Extension/Common Services are provided to the industry on no profit basis through workshops/Labs facilities created in the Centre.

     

    Technical Consultancy:

    Technical Consultancy Services in product/process design & development setting up of technical centres including Computer and Electronic Training centres, design and implementation of human resources development activities; Quality Awareness and Management/Quality Circles and etc. are provided by well qualified and experienced staff of the Centre.

    The Centre is conducting specialised job oriented courses sponsored by Department of Science & Technology.

    ESTC is an accredited institution for conducting 'O' and 'A' level computer courses under DOEACC Scheme of Department of Electronics (Now Ministry of Information Technology).

    ESTC has opened 12 nos Franchise Centres for above courses in various parts of U.P. especially in backward areas of Uttaranchal belt.

    ESTC is actively involved with Uttaranchal Vikas Vibhag of U.P. for implementation of IT Policy of U.P., setting up of an STP and Computerisation of various Departments in Uttaranchal.
